PAY ATTENTION. BE ASTONISHED. Joy ATTRACTS Joy. Drunks attract drunks.
You cannot become truly happy by thinking only of yourself.
Most people seek happiness as though it were something to accumulate.
More money.
More comfort.
More experiences.
"The more I possess, the happier I become."
But the soul does not follow the laws of economics.
If you give away money, you have less.
If you share your joy, you often have more.
Imagine accomplishing something meaningful.
Now imagine telling someone who genuinely rejoices in your satisfaction. Someone who is happy for your happiness. Regardless of what makes you happy, they support you, they rejoice, providing you are not hurting yourself or another.
Their happiness does not diminish yours.
It deepens it without needing to validate it.
Your joy awakens joy in them, and their response returns to you like warmth from a second flame. This is why joy attracts joy, this alignment builds and co creates momentum.
This is why joy differs from material wealth:
This is why joy differs from enabling, entitlement or control.
A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
Yet the room becomes brighter.
Human happiness works in much the same way.
Non performative, sincere human Energy does not lie.
Authenticity is unmistakable.
A partner supporting their best friends success.
A teacher delighting in a student's growth.
Friends celebrating one another's achievements without envy.
A community united by a meaningful ideal and aligned values.
Dr Steiner describes a profound relationship:
Love awakens joy.
Joy opens us to the world.
Love is ultimately the foundation for life.
And an open soul develops the capacity to understand both life and other human beings. An open soul listens and receives. An open soul supports and encourages. An open soul does not attempt to compare, contest, compete or coercively manipulate through control, no matter how subtle. An open soul lets each moment be exactly what each moment is. A grounded soul with assertive boundaries, has the internal grace and capacity to accept the present moment without trying to manipulate, dominate or project any insecure limitations.
The selfish person asks:
"What can the world give me?"
What can I force out of life?
What greed can I compete with?
Who can I exploit? My workers? My friends? My town?
Who can I compare with? Contest with? Compete with?
The loving person who is paying attention learns to ask:
What can I rejoice in?
What am I grateful for?
What can I kindly agree to disagree with?
Not only in himself.
But in truth.
True Beauty.
True Nature.
The successes of others. Human kind.
The good wherever it appears. Hunan beings.
And in doing so, he discovers something remarkable:
The sources of happiness become almost limitless.
It is a foundation that is already there. If you slow down enough to really hear and see and connect with it.
If you choose to prioritise and commit , by seeing it and being in awe, more. Not taking things for granted. Getting out of survival mode. Expanding your world view to include the simplest, most natural and ordinary miracles. Not seeking the next artificial high or cursory mind numbing attachment, be it screen, bottle or opinion.
Perhaps one of life's greatest mistakes is believing that happiness must first be acquired.
Often, deeper happiness is found in what we give, celebrate, and awaken in others.
What we already have.
Not that we wish to accumulate.
Or manipulate.
Or exploit.
Or attach to.
Or take others unique freedoms.
A flame does not become poorer by lighting another.
And a human soul does not become poorer by bringing warmth into the lives of others.
Happiness grows most when it stops being something we try to possess.
Happiness spreads when you realise you already are the joy. The love. The kind hearted happiness. That’s why joy attracts joy.
